Ah, it’s summertime, and the days get longer, and the wardrobe gets lighter. Yes, there is a big change in climate, so your skin requires some extra care. During summer, the warm conditions can leave your skin contending with excess sweat and exposure to damaging sun rays, which are very harmful to the skin. So, there should be some strategic changes to your daily skincare regimen to combat the ill effects of summer and keep your skin healthy.
Not sure where to start?
Let’s take some useful tips and guidelines from Dr.Kavitha, a dermatologist in Bangalore.
1. Lighten up your skin-care routine
One of the best way to protect our skin from heat and humidity of summer means you can swap out a heavier cleanser (think cream or oil cleanser) in favor of a gentle, foaming option.
2. Adopt a dual-purpose moisturizer
To help lighten things up, Dr.Kavitha recommends that switching to a combination moisturizer and sunscreen during the summer is useful. She says “ A moisturizer with lightweight, SPF of 30 or higher may be useful to many people”
3.But don’t stop moisturizing completely.
Do not count those extra sweats on your face as moisturizer.” In summer despite the weather being hot and humid you still need to moisturize,” says Dr.Kavitha, dermatologist and director of Sk truderma at Bangalore. Even though, if your skin already feels oily, you should always follow cleansing with a moisturizer.
“Moisturizer is useful because its reestablish the stratum corneum, which is the outer layer of skin. Its protect from harmful pollutants and chemicals and prevents further irritation or dryness “ says Dr.kavitha.
